Thinking about the MRCOG but feeling lost with eligibility, forms, fees, and booking from India? Don’t worry you’re not alone. This blog is your step-by-step roadmap to registering for the MRCOG exams, plus some insider clarity that will save you time, stress, and missed deadlines.

And here’s the best part: while the RCOG tells you what to do, we’ll show you how to do it smartly so you can focus your energy on passing in less study time instead of battling admin hurdles.

What is the MRCOG and how is it delivered?

The MRCOG is a three-part membership examination of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Part 1 and Part 2 are computer-based written exams delivered by Pearson VUE test centres worldwide, while Part 3 is a clinical skills assessment (OSCE)

Who is eligible and when do you apply?

Part 1

Anyone who holds a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) that is recognised by the RCOG can appear in exam. .If you are a first-time MRCOG candidate, you must complete a Part 1 eligibility application and have it approved before you can book a seat. If you have already sat any MRCOG part before, you do not need to resubmit eligibility.

Deadline for the upcoming January 2026 exam is 29 August.

Attempts: Candidates intending to be entered on to the UK Specialist Register, now or in the future, are permitted no more than 6 attempts at the MRCOG Part 1. There is no limit on attempts for candidates not wishing to enter the UK Specialist Register.

Important tip. Pro Tip: Don’t Wait to Start Studying

Your eligibility application can take weeks to get approved. Many candidates lose precious prep time because they wait for approval before opening their books.

👉 Start studying the moment you decide to sit Part 1. By the time your eligibility is cleared, you’ll already be ahead—while others are just getting started.

I have blog & video for this prep in 60 hrs for part 1

Part 2

You must pass Part 1 before sitting Part 2, and you will be asked to complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) before each booking cycle opens

Attempts and currency: You normally have up to 6 attempts. If you passed Part 1 after March 2013, you should make a first attempt at Part 2 within 7 years of that pass (with pro-rata rules for less-than-full-time training). Further attempts beyond six require exceptional approval from your training authority

Part 3

You must pass Part 2 to be eligible for Part 3. The College will invite eligible candidates to book when the window opens. An Assessment of Training (AoT) is a stated requirement for entry to Part 3.

How do you register and book your exam?

  1. Create an RCOG online account and follow the booking timelines listed for each exam cycle

  2. Part 1 and Part 2 seats are booked and paid for through Pearson VUE. If you face booking issues, you must contact Pearson VUE support for your region, not the RCOG.
